Joey Barton praised his side’s superb second half performance which saw Fleetwood secure three points after a 3-0 victory against Coventry at Highbury on Tuesday night.

Dean Marney, Wes Burns and Ched Evans all scored after the break, to see the Cod Army extend their impressive unbeaten run at home to four games.

See Joey’s post-match reaction below…

On Fleetwood’s performance…

In the second half I thought there was some really good passages of play. Obviously the goals are shared round the team, it was nice to see Ched [Evans] back on the scoresheet. It was good to see Dean Marney get his first goal for the club as well and I’m really pleased for him.

“Alex Cairns made a couple of really good stops around fifteen minutes in and then on the flip side, their keeper made a really good save to deny Lewie Coyle and another to deny Paddy Madden at the end of the first half. We went into the dressing room feeling positive as the lads knew new were in the ascendancy.

“We made a couple slight tactical adjustments, based on what Coventry were doing. I thought the lads executed the game plane perfectly and it was also nice to see Wes to get on the scoresheet as I thought he put in a fantastic shift for the team, tracking back as Junior Brown is good going forward and can be an offensive threat and I thought Wes marshalled him superbly. I thought it was a really good team performance.”

On the recent home form…

“That win consolidates our home form. That is now three wins and a draw in our last four home games in the league and we spoke about making it a difficult place for teams to come and we are now starting to do that. We’ve just got to keep focused and keep believing in what we are doing.”

On tonight’s squad changes…

“We’ve got a good squad. Six hours on a bus there and back to Plymouth isn’t ideal and then on top of that Coventry played on the Friday night so had twenty-four hours in terms of recovery over us. But we had the ability to rotate and we also have players coming back to fitness, James Wallace, Dean Marney, and Conor McAleny.

“It’s nice to have Conor back because we know what a great player he can be. We shuffled the pack today and man for man I thought we were outstanding and it shows the quality that we have at the football club.”

On bouncing back from Plymouth…

“We’ve been excellent at bouncing back, and I don’t want to do it too much but we’ve been excellent at bouncing back from defeats. You know every time we’ve lost the game, we’ve come back with a very good performance.

“It’s nice to get the three points because they are a good side, let’s make no mistake about it, and we knew it wasn’t going to be an easy fixture and I thought our lads deserved the three points."
