Ref watch: Walsall (H)

4 May 2018

Kevin Johnson has been announced as the referee for Town’s final game of the season against Walsall on Saturday.

The Englishman has been in charge of 36 games so far this season, with 13 of them being Sky Bet League One ties. Johnson has, so far, handed out 109 yellow cards and nine red cards.

The last time he officiated a Fleetwood game was back in October 2014, when they beat Port Vale 1-0 at Highbury Stadium. Vale’s Jordan Slew was sent to the stand in the 44th minute before Stephen Dobbie scored the only goal of the game in the 80th minute from the penalty spot.

Johnson’s last meeting with The Saddlers was much more recent as he oversaw their goalless draw against Gillingham in February of this year. The game at Preistfield Stadium saw the referee hand out two yellow cards to Walsall’s George Dobson and Peterborough’s Conor Wilkinson.

Joe Simpson and Gary Hilton will be running the lines on Saturday, with Anthony Backhouse acting as fourth official.
