It was a day to remember for the Fleetwood Town Community Trust BTEC students as they won the EFL Trust Futsal Cup, which was held in Derby on Tuesday afternoon.

After finishing second in the group, the team went into the semi-finals of the competition and faced Premier League side Chelsea, which saw Town progress into the grand final after a 3-0 win.

The final was against Stoke City's Community Trust – who went through on penalties in their semi-final match – and with confidence running high after the win against the Blues, the Fylde Coast side were too much of a match for Stoke, and came away 4-1 winners and were named the National Futsal Champions.

Kyran Jones, who played in the winning side spoke to the club's media team after the event and was very happy with the achievement.

"We were given a chance after the group stages. I don't think we played to our potential but when we got to the semi-finals we took our chances and started to play the way we can.

"This tournament started off in York and when we finished third, we went into the trophy and there we came 2nd, got out of the group stages and went onto win it.

"It was nervous but we were confident at the time and it is just a fantastic achievement."

The club would like to congratulate the Fleetwood Town Community Trust BTEC team for winning the EFL Trust Futsal Cup.
