Fleetwood Town head coach John Sheridan has given his reaction to Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Charlton Athletic.

Sheridan covered all the key points in his post-match press conference.

On a well-fought goalless draw…

“It was a good battling performance. I don’t think we played great but we’ve had a couple of really good chances that unfortunately we didn’t take. We defended as a team and worked our socks off to get something from the game.

“Charlton are a decent team and obviously they’ve got good players. It could be a very valuable point at the end of the season.

“The keeper has made a great save from Ashley [Hunter], and Sowers [Jack Sowerby] on the follow up, but it’s a good point. It’s a long trip against a decent team who are still going for the play offs.”

On a first league clean sheet of 2018…

“It’s a big plus. Since I’ve come in it’s been three draws and three solid performances and we need to be picking things up in every game, and I’m sure if we drew every game from now until the end of the season we’d be alright.”

On moving out of the relegation zone…

“Obviously we’d like more points, but we’ve moved out of the bottom four so it’s a big plus for us. We’ve got some very tough games coming up – and we’ve come to a tough place today where people probably didn’t expect us to get anything so full credit to the players.

“We’ve got two big games against teams around us in Rochdale and Northampton so it’s a big week for us.”

On the intent from his forward players…

“If there was one negative from today I’d liked to have believed the players could have passed it and played it more, and tried to create a few more chances, but we have got to keep chipping away.”

On confidence growing…

“We’re unbeaten in three since I’ve come in and that’s all we can look at. Three solid performances, and we’re doing okay.

On a big week ahead…

“I can see the relegation battle going to the last few games of the season, it’s so tight. I’ve watched Rochdale and I’m very surprised they are bottom of the league.

“They will give us a really tough game and we know we have to go there and take three points.”
