Head coach John Sheridan has given thoughts ahead of Fleetwood ’s away trip to Charlton this weekend.

Sheridan and his side travel to The Valley on Saturday after two back to back home draws on the bounce.

This will be the Sheridan's first away game in charge of the club and will look to pick up his first three points since his arrival.

Here is what he had to say…

On the positives going forward after last week’s match…

“I think last week was another good performance considering who we were playing and where they are in the league.

“They [Plymouth] started off well but I thought we were well in the game, unfortunately we went a goal behind after having a good chance to go one up ourselves.

“I have to say it was very similar to the game against MK Dons, and the response again from the players was spot on.

“A point is good and having played two and drawn two, and it’s all about getting those on the board as this stage of the season.”

On managing the fans expectations…

“In the circumstances I can see where the fans are coming from and likewise with everybody at the club, we are in a vulnerable position and we have to be greedy at times.

“We need three points from games and that is the most important thing, it’s not the performance itself.

“We go to Charlton and we know the importance of being positive, being on the front font.

“I know we are an attack minded team and our objective is to create chances and when we do that, we will start to win games.”

On bringing ideas from the training pitch to the matches…

“I haven’t been here long, but I have had time on the training pitch with the players and understand how I want to play.

“I am not scared to change the formation depending on who we are playing.

“The players need to keep being brave and as long as I see them trying to do the right thing on the pitch.

“If we can mix together and do the right jobs, and then come out on the pitch and keep a clean sheet and score goals.

“We have done alright in recent weeks as a team, and if we keep the level of performances, they will bring the results in.”

On the club’s results away from home…

“This will be my first away game with the team, and I know they have a very good away record.

“We must go into this game full of confidence knowing that we can win games and that’s what we will do.

“I know we have players who can go out and win matches, and with the goal scorers we have, we will create and make chances.

“As you said, the away performances have been decent and hopefully that continues because we have a few away games coming up with six out of the last eight.

“We just need to perform on the day.”

On what Sheridan expects from Charlton…

“The club is in a very good position to get into the play-offs.

“I know they’ve had a couple of bad results recently, but they have some good players and if we allow them time to dictate, they will punish us.

“I try to worry about us more than the opposition, but we will respect them, but go there and cause them problems which I’m sure we will do.

“We aren’t going down there to try and get a point, we are going there to get all three points!”

On getting at teams from the off…

“I know that if we aren’t winning, we will make it difficult for ourselves.

“The players and I know that we need to get results and if those wins come quickly, it makes life easier for us.”

On why Charlton are beatable…

“I have watched their last few games, and they can be one of the best teams in the division.

“It’s important I respect that, and with their manager that they have, but their results of recent haven’t been too good.

“We go there with confidence after the last two, and in those two I feel we should have won, but we go with the belief."
