FTFC eSports secure promotion to League One North in first season

The club’s official eSports team are heading into League One next season after gaining promotion in their first campaign in Virtual Pro Gaming.

The regular season is over and after 24 matches, the Cod Army secured second spot after going unbeaten in the remaining six games, with wins over Lucky Landing FC, eSports Absolute and AFC Hot Spurs.

On Bank Holiday Monday, FTFC eSports took on mid-table side 180 eSports in the penultimate match of the season and with a very strong line-up put out by head coach Dan ‘Hubaga’ Masters, Town went into the break four goals to the good, with a hat-trick from new signing Shaun4YTFC. The match finished 8-0 with more goals from John ‘JCC’ Charles and teammate Jamnut1998,

Tuesday saw Town play in the quarter-final of the VPG North Cup against League One side AFC Hot Spurs. It was level at 2-2 at the half-time break, with Town managing to score two goals to seal their place in the semi-finals, with the game being played on Tuesday 6th June.

Town's striker Ro 'ohhDciznZ' Mitchell was picked in the final VPG Team of the Week after he scored two hat-tricks in three games. Huge congratulations to our top goal scorer.

Club captain JCC then rallied the troops together on the last game of the season help FTFC eSports come away with a comfortable 6-0 win over eSports Hibees. With that score line, Town had reached 102 goals in their league campaign. A fantastic achievement for the club!

Dan ‘Hubaga’ Masters spoke after the final game and reflected on a good first season at the club.

“What can I say? We have gained promotion and that was our number one target.

“The team has worked hard throughout the nine weeks and have given everything to the cause, it’s important we rest and come back even hungrier next season.”

JCC also gave a few words after the final match, with the captain already looking forward to life in League One.

“Step one of our road to glory is complete,” said JCC.

“This team had never played together before and with all players trialling at the beginning of the season, we have gone onto have success in season one.

“It’s important now we get together during the short break, and get ready for life in League One.”
