Fleetwood Town are delighted to confirm the signing of Jason Holt on a season-long loan from Glasgow Rangers.

The highly rated 25-year-old moves to the Cod Army from the Scottish giants after featuring 33 times last season, as the club finished third in the Scottish Premier League.

A technically gifted central midfielder, Holt began his career at Hearts, enjoying successful loan spells at Raith Rovers and English side Sheffield United, before a switch to Ibrox in 2015.

Holt was named in the Scottish Championship PFA Team of the Year in 2016, which also saw him win the Scottish Championship and Challenge Cup.

Head coach Joey Barton, who played alongside Holt at Rangers, said on the signing: “I’m delighted that Jason has joined us here at Fleetwood Town.

“I saw his qualities when I was at Rangers on a daily basis, and as soon as I found out he was available we tried everything to make sure we got him here.

“He’s a great character, a great trainer and he knows the level after his season with Sheffield United.

“It’s a huge signing for us.”
