Fleetwood Town are delighted to announce the signing of attacker Chris Long on a two-year contract.
The 23-year-old returns to Highbury after initially joining the club on loan in 2016, featuring 18 times and scoring four goals. Since then, Long has embarked on successful loan spells at Bolton Wanderers and Northampton Town, with the striker getting nine goals in League One last season.
The former Everton youngster has represented England at U16, U17, U18, U19 and U20 level and becomes Joey Barton’s seventh signing of the summer.
Head coach, Joey Barton, said on the deal: “The signing of Chris gives us some really good competition for places in the front areas.
“By bringing Longy in, it gives us variety in the front line - he brings pace and the ability to play in any of the three positions at the top of the pitch.
“We feel that if you’re going to have a healthy season, you need healthy competition and we feel we’ve got that now. It’s exciting times ahead.”
