The players were hard at work on Friday, preparing for Saturday’s final match of the training camp against Zalaegerszegi TE.

The day began with breakfast at the usual time of 8am, with all players and staff present – fuelling themselves for the busy day ahead.

After going through their usual warm-up in the gym at 10am, the first team squad were out on the superb pitches at the Globall Hotel for 10:30am, and began the first of an intensive session under the watchful eye of head coach Joey Barton.

Small sided games, defensive work as well as set piece practice were all on the agenda, with the temperature topping 24 degrees – and like at home, no rain in sight!

After a spot of lunch, some players took part in a series of interviews with the club’s media team. Stay tuned over the next few days for those on the official club channels.

Another session on the grass followed at 4:30pm, with more shape work and final preparations put in place for Saturday’s game, with the Cod Army looking for a fourth straight pre-season victory.

Following the evening meal at 7pm, the players and staff were treated to a special talk from the club’s head of security, Tony Barlow. Tony spoke about his experiences in the Paratroopers during the Falklands War – a truly inspiring speech, with players and staff touched by his stories.
