Diagouraga confident ahead of Blackburn game

20 January 2018

Toumani Diagouraga says his side in confident ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet League One fixture against high flying Blackburn Rovers.

The midfielder is all set to make his home debut for the club, after scoring on his full debut last weekend at Southend United in a 2-1 win.

Now with his team set to face the inform Rovers, Diagourgaga says he is ready for the challenge.

“It was good to get on the pitch last week but there’s nothing better than playing in front of the home crowd.

“We’re confident. The team’s been playing well and in this league you can beat anyone. If we play as well as we can do tomorrow, I don’t see why we can’t win.

“We’ve had analysis so we’ve done our homework on them and I’m sure they’ve done the same. Hopefully we can deliver a good win.

“It’s a big club, quite close to here so I’m sure there’ll be a big turnout.

“I haven’t been to the stadium yet but I’m sure with the local fans it’ll be a good atmosphere.”

He and fellow newcomer Paddy Madden both scored on their first appearances for the club, and are both due to make home debuts.

“I knew Paddy before we got here,” added Diagouraga.

“We travelled to the train station together on Friday and it was a good thing for both of us to score.

“Everyone knows him across the league as a very good goal scorer and team player.”

Diagouraga played under Uwe Rosler at Brentford for two years before re-uniting here and Toums appreciates his style of management.

“He’s very honest. He demands things of you and really just tells you how it is.

“To have a manager like that is very good. Most of the time it’s a simple message, just to make sure you know what you have to do.”

“I’ve been promoted from this league before and I think the team’s very young so the manager wanted to add a bit of experience.

“Hopefully, I’ll be here for a long time.”
