Fleetwood Town hosted an educational event for the ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ team and former England international Trevor Sinclair at Poolfoot Farm on Wednesday, with year six student from local primary school Sacred Heart attending.

The children arrived at Fleetwood’s training ground and were tasked to come up with questions in a workshop, based around diversity and stereotyping, that they could ask both head coach Joey Barton and Sinclair at a question and answer panel later on in the day.

The children were then shown an educational video, which had footballing stars like Trent Alexander-Arnold and Eniola Aluko, about racism in football and how it should be shown the red card. The footballers spoke about personal experiences and how they would report cases of racism in the sporting world.

After this, the children then asked their questions to Barton and Sinclair in an educational press conference, with the best questions winning signed shirts and posters from the panel. Once the panel was finished, the students went up to the front and picked up a personally signed poster which was designed to support the campaign.

Everyone at Fleetwood Town would like to thank the ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ team and Trevor Sinclair for organising and attending this brilliant event at Poolfoot.
