Jason Holt sat down with the media at Poolfoot Farm on Thursday morning to preview the upcoming fixture with Bristol Rovers.
Holt has featured 23 times for the Cod Army in all competitions this season, and has been a regular in the side over the last few weeks, impressing in last weekend’s victory over Burton Albion.
See below the key quotes from Holt’s pre-match interview…
On the conditions against Burton…
“A few of the boys have said that it’s the worst conditions they’ve ever played in. The most important thing was grinding it out and we were delighted to come away with the three points.
“It was a day for rolling your sleeves up, showing grit and determination, and we managed to come away from the game with three points which we were really happy about.”
On having a consistent run within the team…
“I think given the position I play in – with so many central midfielders – for the two slots in the team, there is certainly competition for places.
“If you’ve got the jersey, you need to play well enough to keep it, so that’s the aim for me at the moment.
“I’ve been very impressed with everyone since I came down. As the season has gone on, we feel like we’re constantly improving and thriving in an environment where everyone wants to come to work and do better each day.”
On facing Bristol Rovers…
“Our away form hasn’t been great as of late, and we know that. Saturday will be a difficult game against a team who have just lost their manager, and I’m sure their players will want to give a reaction.
“It’s up to us to build on last week’s performance – although that wasn’t pretty – and show the same elements of determination and grit and get a good result.
“Whenever a squad loses a manager, players always look to give a reaction and we’re expecting that on Saturday. We’ll be more than equipped ready for the challenge.”
