Conor McAleny spoke to the press after Tuesday’s massive 1-0 win at Oxford United where he scored the only goal in fine fashion.
McAleny came off the bench to secure all three points, as Town climbed to 11th in Sky Bet League One.
Check out all the key quotes from Conor’s post-match press conference…
On his stunning goal…
“At the time, I was thinking to cut inside and try to get a shot away. As soon as I got the ball I saw the space and there was only one thing to do and luckily it went in.
“I haven’t hit one like that in a while and I was due one so it’s been coming. I’m more than pleased.
“They were piling on the pressure and we were under the cosh. We’ve always been dangerous on the counter attack and we showed that.
“It’s up there with one of my best goals. It’s not my favourite but it’s definitely up there.”
On his first goal under John Sheridan…
“It’s been frustrating goal wise for a few weeks and months for me, so my teammates were chuffed for me.
“It’s all about getting three points. We’re on 54 points now so he’s been doing a brilliant job here and we’ve only lost once under him so it’s been positive.”
On the solid defensive display…
“We expected the pressure. They really need a win and they’re a good side. The defence and the goalkeeper were superb, so credit to them.”
On making up for Saturday’s loss…
“It’s how you bounce-back from a loss. The lads are pleased and we go ahead into Saturday now.”
