September meeting for Former Players Association goes down a treat

A second informal gathering of former Fleetwood Town players was held at Poolfoot Farm on Thursday 7th September and was viewed as a big success by the 17 players who attended.

The players were happy to reminisce about bygone games and former team mates from previous eras. Old photographs, press cuttings and match programmes were scrutinised by those present.

Fleetwood Town Vice Chairman, Phil Brown, commented: “It was fantastic to see so many of our former players present at our second gathering at Poolfoot Farm. As always, even though many hadn’t seen some old team mates for many years, they immediately reconnected with each other as if it was yesterday when they last saw them. There were countless old stories retold, copious amounts of mickey-taking and plenty of laughter and it was a privilege to be amongst men who played such a key part of our club’s history.”

Administrator, Tony Collier, added: “It was great to see the older players conversing with each other. We are very keen to increase the numbers for these informal gatherings and we would be delighted to hear from any other former Fleetwood Town players, Irrespective of the era in which they played. We do have many plans for the future but we want to perpetuate interest first. ”

The next planned gathering will be at Poolfoot on Thursday 5th October at 10am. For further information please email Stuart Murdoch stuart.murdoch@fleetwoodtownfc.com or via phone on 07921 934775.
