Defender Ashley Eastham is looking forward to the challenge this Saturday as Fleetwood Town travel to Portsmouth in the Sky Bet League One.

Eastham spoke to the press on Friday afternoon at Poolfoot Farm after picking up four points from the two home game against Oldham and Bury this week.

Meanwhile, Pompey lost 3-1 away at Northampton Town on Tuesday night, but despite this, Eastham believes it will be a tough test against Kenny Jackett’s side.

“We are expecting another tough game against a new side in the division,” added the 26-year-old.

“They are probably finding their feet in the league at the moment but they have a lot of threats in their side. We have gone over their strengths and weaknesses, and we think we can go and get a result tomorrow.

“I think as players we prefer playing Saturday and Tuesday. We are still trying to find our feet ourselves but we are collecting points at the same time. That will put us in good stead for the rest of the season.”

Town drew 2-2 against Oldham on last weekend and won 3-2 against Bury on Tuesday night, and Eastham wants the team to take positives out of their last two fixtures, and combine that with the success of last season.

“Our success last season came from being a hard team to break down, and then hitting teams on the counter attack,” added Eastham.

“We prefer it that way around but the three points are the main thing but we brush ourselves down and go again. Set pieces have let us down in the last couple of games but there are a lot of positives to take out of them.

“We do have a young squad and a few of the lads were asking if I have played at Fratton Park before, and I have been fortunate enough to play there.

“It will be a new experience for a lot of the lads and it’s one we need to enjoy.”
