Town goalkeeper Billy Crellin becomes the first player to represent Fleetwood for a senior England side after featuring in their under 18s international friendly against South Africa.

Crellin – who travelled with Town’s first team to a week-long training camp in Austria – earned his first international cap in the sides loss to South Africa after being subbed on at half time for Stoke City’s Josef Bursik.

England lost the friendly as Lyle Foster put South Africa ahead early on before his pass led to their second in the 74th minute, with Tashreeq Matthews sliding the ball in the net. Manchester City’s Phil Foden pulled one back with seconds left and even though England were the stronger team in the second half, the South Africans held on to their lead.

England will next feature in the FIFA under 17s World Cup in October as they are one of five European teams to qualify, the others being France, Germany, Spain and Turkey.
