Jordy Hiwula said Saturday’s 2-1 win over Plymouth Argyle was a massive three points for the team.
Hiwula scored his fourth goal of the season against Derek Adams’ side as The Cod Army made it two wins in four days following Tuesday’s triumph over Morecambe.
The 22-year-old had an effort cleared off the line in the first half, but quickly put that past him as he scored midway through the second half to set Town on the way to three points.
“Bobby Grant slipped me in and I just thought as I took my first touch past the defender, that I will just place this and luckily it went in the side of the net,” said Hiwula.
“It was a really good performance today I thought. We knew it was going to be a hard game today, but we came here today just to get the three points and that is what we did.
“I think it was a solid away performance. We restricted them to minimal chances and we tried to play on the counter attack. I thought we did well today and like I said, to get the three points was massive.”
Hiwula was once again paired up top with Devante Cole, a partnership which is getting stronger by the game.
“It is a good partnership we have,” confirmed the 22-year-old.
“Devante and I have know each other for a long time. We just seem to feed off one another and I am just glad I get to play alongside him.
“We know each other really well with playing at academy level. With the strikers at the club, we all know how each play and with that, the competition in the team is healthy.”
Hiwula and his Fleetwood teammates now have a week to prepare ahead of the visit of Rochdale, and the striker knows that the recovery from the 650 mile round trip will be key.
“We will prepare as normal for the next game.
“We will recover like we always do during the week and go again against Rochdale to get the three points."
