Nicholson says side are ready for Carlisle United

7 November 2017

Barry Nicholson says his side are fully prepared ahead of Wednesday's Checkatrade Trophy match at Carlisle United.

Fleetwood travel to Brunton Park on Wednesday night, just 48-hours after beating Chorley 2-1 in the Emirates FA Cup First Round tie.

Nicholson spoke ahead of Town’s last group match against Keith Curle’s side, and knows the players need to be ready for the challenges the Cumbrian’s will pose.

“We are fully focused,” said Nicholson.

“We have done some work on how we want to play this morning. The coaching staff will assess the boys who played on Monday night, and then will pick a team to hopefully get us the three points.

“The players want to finish with three wins out of three. Once you are through to the knockout stages; you know that you’re one step closer to a trip to Wembley.

"It is important for us to continue winning because momentum is a big factor in football.”

Town will have played three games in six days come Saturday’s away trip to MK Dons, and the First Team coach knows tomorrow will provide opportunities for players to impress.

“There will be changes to the squad,” added Nicholson.

“We will look to see how the lads have recovered from Monday night. Tomorrow is an opportunity for players to get game time, and I’d imagine that will be the case.

“The team just want to finish top of the group, and finish on a high.”

Fleetwood could qualify for the knockout stages tonight if results go their way, with Morecambe welcoming Leicester City U21s to the Globe Arena for a 7:45pm kick-off.

“We will be checking the score tonight. It will give us an indication to what we need out of tomorrow match.

“It’s important that we concentrate on ourselves.”
