Cian Bolger says he is disappointed to come away with nothing from Saturday's 1-0 defeat to MK Dons at stadium:mk.

The loss was Town's first in five games, as Chuks Aneke fired past Alex Cairns just before the break in fortunate circumstances.

The Cod Army controlled the game for large periods, and were unlucky to not take a point from the game with the hosts only having one shot on target.

"It is disappointing but for large periods we dominated," said Bolger.

"But we couldn't seem to open the door as such. We are coming away very frustrated.

"We had two or three opportunities in the second half which we really should have taken, which adds to the frustration. They sat back and made it hard for us and we couldn't seem to break them down."

Bolger has rued the slice of luck that came the Dons way for their goal, which was the result of a lucky ricochet on the edge of the Fleetwood area.

"It was a little bit scrappy," stated Bolger.

"I think we were still dominating before that. It fell to the lad on the edge of the box and they got the lucky break. He got the shot away quite early."

"He's a big strong lad and he's really physical, but it's really the only shot of the game they've really had so we're coming away disappointed," he added.

Despite the narrow defeat, the defender is convinced his side can take away the positives ahead of next Saturday's game at home to Doncaster Rovers.

"We can take a lot of confidence from today," added Bolger.

"We've come away pointless, but we can take a lot of positives from how we play the ball but we've probably got to do more in the final third.

"It will be good to get back to our place and try and get the win again. We have to start building that winning mentality.

"Monday night wasn't pretty but we also got a result and we can take something from that too."
