Midfielder reacts after first defeat in 19 matches

Kyle Dempsey has called upon Fleetwood Town to ‘bounce back’ when they travel to Walsall on Tuesday night.

Dempsey scored his first goal in Town colours against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday in a 4-2 home defeat, but his side still remain second in Sky Bet League One.

The on-loan Huddersfield midfielder is keen to put the result to one side and move on quickly to Tuesday’s match.

“We have got to show character to get back and I think if we were to get the win on Tuesday that would be massive for our confidence,” said Dempsey.

“We have not got until next Saturday, so we do not have a full week to dwell on it, we have got literally Tuesday and we’ll put things right and then we will kick on.

“The main thing is that we have Tuesday to bounce back.”

Despite getting his first goal in a red and white shirt, Dempsey had mixed feelings at full-time.

“I found myself a bit further up on the pitch today, and I got one chance, hit it with my left foot and thankfully it went it.

“But ultimately we were unable to get the three points today and that is the main thing and the real negative.

“At set pieces we were not tight enough and that is how they punished us, and we will have to sit down and address that in the week.”
