Harvey Rodgers says he is ‘very excited for the future’ after signing a three-year deal with Fleetwood Town.

The 20 year-old defender will join the Cod Army on July 1 following the expiration of his contract with Sky Bet Championship side Hull City.

Rodgers – who impressed last season on loan at Accrington Stanley – is looking forward to getting started at Town.

“The team did well last year and hopefully we can go one better next season and I can get myself in the team.

“I’m very excited for the future. They wanted to improve me and make me a better player. They are a really ambitious club and the facilities are second to none.”

Rodgers becomes Uwe Rosler’s second signing of the summer after Kyle Dempsey made his loan move from Huddersfield Town permanent in May.

“I like to think of myself as a ball playing centre half but I like a tackle as well. I’m very ambitious and I want to come here and improve myself.

“It went really well for me last season at Accrington but I feel like I need to step things up again now. I’m buzzing that Uwe and Gretar wanted to sign me.”
