Kelly: I'm really pleased to be part of the club for the long-term

Assistant head coach Rob Kelly says he is ‘really pleased to be a part of the club’ after signing a new long-term contract with Fleetwood Town.

Kelly joins head coach Uwe Rosler in committing his future the club, after putting pen to paper on a deal this week.

The 52 year-old – who joined the club with Rosler just before the start of last season – is already looking ahead to the big kick-off in August.

“It’s going to be an exciting season, one that will be different to last season where we came in just before kick-off,” said Kelly.

“I’m really pleased to have been asked to be part of the club for a longer period. When the club asked me it was really pleasing to sign and be a part of it. As staff we are building and growing together.”

With pre-season now underway, Kelly has also emphasised the importance of the first team’s trip to Austria next month.

“The whole environment to work in is perfect,” added Kelly.

“We know we are going to there to work – we will be looking to try a couple of things while we are out there.

“We’re all together for a week which will be great and we’ll get to know the new players too. We’re looking forward to it, it should be a good trip.

“It’s important for our players that we had that breather because our season was a couple of weeks longer due to the playoffs.

"We tweaked pre-season a little bit in terms of the structure, but I’m sure on the first week of August we’ll be ready to go."
