No injuries, a win and a debut goal for new signing Lewie Coyle – three things that certainly made head coach Uwe Rosler happy after Friday’s victory over Queen of the South.

Rosler put out two separate teams ensuring all his squad played at least 45 minutes at Poolfoot Farm, before Town head out to Austria on Sunday morning.

“I’m very pleased we came through the game and showed things that we worked on, as well as implementing new things,” said the German.

“We brought in new players who have not have a lot of time to acclimatise to the way we play with their teammates, so overall I felt it was a decent performance with a good result.

“There’s no injuries and we got a good amount of work in our legs not just today, but throughout our two weeks of training we have had.”

Town’s head coach also reserved praise for his new recruit from Leeds who played the second 45 minutes on Friday.

“Coyley is a player who has the physicality, knowledge and the toughness to perform over the whole season.

“We tried new things out, we need to be more flexible during the season. In modern football at the highest level you see teams changing their formation three of four times during the same game.

“We need to be more flexible and challenge our players more – not only in the body – but in the head to take new information onto the pitch and that is what we are trying to do in this pre-season.”
