We've met before: Bristol Rovers

13 January 2017

Mixed fortunes for Town in previous three meetings

Bristol Rovers will be looking to do the double over Fleetwood this weekend, after the Cod Army suffered defeat at the Memorial Stadium earlier this season.

Despite an early goal from Ashley Hunter, Fleetwood slipped to a 2-1 defeat, thanks to goals from Rovers’ top scorer Matty Taylor and winger Christian Montano.

Prior to this season, the last time the two sides met was when they were both in League Two in the 2013/14 season.

Back then Fleetwood inflicted 3-1 defeats to the Pirates both home and away.

At the Memorial Stadium in October 2013, late goals from record signing Jamille Matt and Jon Parkin secured the victory for the Cod Army, after John-Joe O’Toole had equalised following Matt’s opener.

Meanwhile on a Tuesday evening in March 2014, Fleetwood raced into a 3-0 lead before the hour mark at the Highbury Stadium.

Antoni Sarcevic, Mark Roberts and David Ball all scored for the home side, and despite a late consolation goal from Ellis Harrison, Fleetwood secured the double over the Pirates, helping them on the way to a fourth place finish.
