Gaffer reacts after Bristol City draw
Boss Uwe Rosler has hailed his side’s spirit which has seen them go on a fantastic unbeaten run this season.
Following Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Bristol City in the Emirates FA Cup, The Cod Army have gone twelve games unbeaten in all competitions.
After the game at Ashton Gate, manager Uwe Rosler praised his team and the character shown by his players, who haven’t lost a game since mid-November.
“We are now twelve games unbeaten and that shows what a good spirit we have," said Rosler.
“I’m very happy with the performance, I’m very happy with our defensive play and also our counter-attacking play.
This defensive play has seen the side go four games without conceding, and Rosler puts this down to his player’s ability to follow the game plan set out.
“I ask a lot, I think that is absolutely necessary when you play against that sort of opposition.
“You can’t go gung-ho against them so you need to have a plan. The plan, it worked, credit to the players.
“We tried to really play from the back, because that was our chance to get on the ball. We knew we had to work very hard against the ball and without the ball.”
“I think that’s so important, that it’s not about any individuals, it’s about getting the result.”
Looking to the future, Rosler says that the experience of playing against higher league opposition will only help his side.
“We tested ourselves at a different level and the more we do that the better we will get. We learn a lot out of these games.
“When we play more often against those teams in such a stadium in games which really count, that only makes us better.”
Fleetwood will be in the Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round draw for the first time in the club’s history, and will be ball number 24 when the draw is conducted on Monday evening from 7pm.
