Head Coach reacts after climbing into the play-offs

Head Coach Uwe Rosler praised his side for winning a ‘very, very tough game’ in Monday’s 1-0 win at Shrewsbury Town.

Rosler’s side made it 11 games unbeaten, and a winning start to 2017 after Devante Cole’s ninth minute winner at Greenhous Meadow.

“I would say for 75-80 minutes we were the better team,” said Rosler.

“It was a very, very tough game. They had a day recovery more than us and especially at this time of the year, it makes a big difference. We had the far better chances but the last ten minutes they made it difficult for us. I’m very happy to win this very, very tough game.

“They put massive pressure on us in the last few minutes but the boys dug in.

“When we want to do something this season, these are the kinds of places where you have to go and get something from it.”

Rosler also reserved praise for striker Cole, who created the winning goal against Oldham on New Year’s Eve, as well as scoring the winner against Paul Hurst’s side.

“Now he (Devante Cole) rewards himself and everyone in our camp is happy that now finally he is getting the rewards he deserves.

“It was a great cross and a clever dummy from Chris Long and he put it in. I felt it was very good situation for both of our strikers in the first and second half with good opportunities.

“The longer the game went on, we wanted to freshen up and reinforce the attack.”

Town now take a break from Sky Bet League One action and travel to Bristol City in the Third Round of the Emirates FA Cup next week.
