Rosler hails 'perfect' result at Sheffield United

Gaffer hails performance after win at top of the table Blades

Head coach Uwe Rosler called his sides “perfect” result after claiming a 2-0 away win at Sheffield United.

Goals from Conor McLaughlin and Devante Cole made it 11 unbeaten in all competitions for Rosler’s side, maintaining fourth position in the league.

“Sheffield United are a big high profile team, with some great players, and are top of the league so to come here and win is fantastic,” said Rosler.

“The only disappointment is that we haven’t scored more goals on the counter attack. Other than a few chances, we limited them to efforts outside the box and that impressed me.

“We had some great chances in the first half and should have maybe scored more. In the second half, you have to expect to be put under pressure, especially at a place like this, but we dealt with that well.”

The gaffer was happy with the effort of striker Cole, who returned to the side after dropping to the bench at Coventry.

“He was brave today, and wasn’t scared to duck out of challenges, and he got into the box to cause them problems.

“He had one or two great chances before he scored, which he took brilliantly.”

“I said to the players before today I wanted four points from our next two games and we’re almost there. We set our target of 50 points for the whole season and we’re nearly there too, in January.”

After the loss of Nathan Pond through injury, Rosler has applauded defender Cian Bolger for his leadership and growth as a player.

“I had many conversations with Cian and told him what I expected of him, and I’ve watched him step up and grow as a player.

“He was superb tonight, and although it’s hard to single out a player after a huge team performance, Cian was great. I’m very happy with Cian and he’s on his way to making a huge step in his career.

“He’ll want to prove a point to his former club Southend on Saturday.”
