Striker reacts after joining club from Rushall Olympic

New signing Alex Reid says that he is ‘absolutely delighted’ to have signed professional terms with Fleetwood Town.

Reid’s pedigree has risen at non-league level after scoring 40 goals since the start of last season and has led to him signing for the Cod Army.

“I have come from non-league Rushall Olympic and last year was a great season for me,” Reid said, speaking to Cod Army Player HD.

“I scored 26 goals in all competitions and just continued from where I left off last season and half way through this season I had already scored 14.

“Fleetwood showed their interest, I came down and loved everything about it.

“If you could see where I’ve come from playing in non-league and what I have had to play at, I am overwhelmed by the facilities.”

Reid added that he is motivated by the exploits of ex-Fleetwood Town star and Barclays Premier League winner Jamie Vardy and current Town prospect Ashley Hunter, who both made the jump from non-league.

“Seeing Jamie Vardy and people like Ash Hunter and where they have come from, it just proves to me that it is possible.

“I will work as hard as I can to get to the levels that Jamie Vardy has set for everybody now.”

“I’m a quick exciting player who always looks to score goals. I like making runs in behind but I am just looking to excite the fans and the best way I feel I can do that is by scoring goals."
