Former loan star joins on a permanent deal

Fleetwood Town are delighted to confirm the permanent signing of Wes Burns from Bristol City.

Burns – who spent four months on loan at the club last season – returns to Highbury after signing a three-and-a-half year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old highly rated forward has been with Bristol City since 2012 and spent the first half of this season on loan at Aberdeen where he scored on his Europa League debut.

Cardiff-born, Burns has also represented Wales at under 21 level, making 18 appearances and scoring an impressive six goals.

Wes Burns said on the move: “It’s been a long process to get the deal done and get things over the line, but now that it’s been finalised I’m delighted to be here.

“I watched Fleetwood down at Bristol City and I was taken back with how well the players that were here last year have improved and how much the new faces have strengthened the team.”

“Hopefully I can come back and show exactly what I’m about – as I did last season.”
