Defender reacts after Fleetwood make it 13 unbeaten
Defender Ashley Eastham says he is happy to be back in the side and thinks that the unbeaten streak that club has made will be something he will remember for the rest of his career.
Town beat Bristol Rovers 3-1 on Saturday after goals from Ashley Hunter, Cian Bolger and David Ball despite Billy Bodin pulling one back for the visitors in the second half.
Eastham was frustrated that he couldn’t play over the Christmas break due to an injury but the centre-half was happy to come on today.
“It has been frustrating,” said Eastham.
“I mean touch wood, it’s been the first real injury I’ve had in my career, in the last seven, eight years.
“I’ve recovered back now well and I’m looking forward to supporting the lads and being ready when needed for the manager.”
The defender believes that their unbeaten form of recent has been down to team spirit and a newly found grittiness from the training ground.
“We’ve kept this great run going today, which the manager talked about before the game.
“I think over the last few months on the training ground, we’ve developed a grittiness about the side.
“We don’t look like conceding late goals and we don’t look like losing game at the moment, which is a good thing.
“The lads at the other end with Bally, Ash Hunter and all the other forwards, we look like a threat and that is our game.”
And he revealed that the Head Coach Uwe Rosler is proud of all his players and their achievements throughout this campaign and hopes that they recognise how well they have played.
“I mean the manager said in his team talk before the lads went out, he said it’s something you might never do again in your career,”
“It’s not every day you go out unbeaten in 12, 13, 14 games so we want to keep it going, it’s something to be really proud of.
“Like I say, let’s hope we can carry it on, on Tuesday in the FA Cup.”
Town will face Bristol City in an FA Cup Third Round Replay on Tuesday night which kicks off at 7:45pm.
