Striker reacts after Town make it 12 unbeaten

Goal scoring hero David Ball says that Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Southend was ‘massive’ as Town extended their unbeaten run to 12 games.

Ball scored his 11th league goal of the season in the 90th minute to keep Town fourth and more importantly rescue a point against a strong Southend side.

“It’s a credit to everyone involved,” said Ball.

“The lads who have come in, the lads who have gone out – no one has sulked and it’s a great group and we will continue to do that.

“I think we didn’t really come out of the blocks like we have done in certain games. Obviously we’re doing well, so teams are going to come and set up to try and stop us and they certainly did that."

“I think it was quite a scrappy game. I managed to set myself and just guide it in – that’s my type of finishing! I was just delighted for everyone at the club for when a goal like that goes in in the last minute – it keeps our run going.

“It’s massive. We want to keep the run going and keep believing that everything we’re doing off the pitch is working.”

Ball was said in his post-match interview that he believes Town got what they deserved, ahead of the trip to Charlton next weekend.

“I don’t think they’ve had a game for a couple of weeks and we’ve had three or four in that time – I think that played a part.

“But the further it went on into the game, I thought we got a better foothold in the game and got what we deserved in the end.”
