Gaffer previews trip to The Valley on Saturday

Fleetwood Town go head to head with Charlton Athletic at the Valley on Saturday and head coach Uwe Rosler believes that a positive January will benefit his team.

The Cod Army played eight matches from New Year’s Eve up until last Saturday’s game with Southend United.

Town are undefeated in 12 league matches, and face another in-form side in the Addicks on Saturday in Sky Bet League One.

“It’s very pleasing and you can see a clear progression throughout the year, both at home and away but especially away.

“I think that from the 31st of December to the 31st of January we played really well only losing one match against Championship opposition.

“Obviously we brought in some new players and we lost a few players but we feel really good as a team and I think we can carry on doing what we a are doing.”

Rosler was keen to praise opposition manager Karl Robinson, although he insisted that the pressure for Saturday’s game will be on the home side.

“I know Karl very well he is a good friend of mine and I have known him for a lot of years, he is a very good manager.

“Karl knows himself that a club like Charlton has to be in the top six so the pressure is on them to perform on Saturday and to get the win, the pressure is on them.”

“Towards the beginning we struggled to gain points, our performances were good but we weren’t gaining points. That has clearly improved.”

Within his side’s good run of form, Rosler has settled on a formation and side which has proved beneficial.

“The way we play and the formation helps us,” said Rosler.

“We have now found a comfortable formation for all the players and they can now operate to the best of their ability.

“This makes us more confident going away from home as we enter into a busy stage of the season which is important.”
