Markus Schwabl believes the Boxing Day win over Oldham Athletic will create momentum for Town as they travel to Bury.

Schwabl and his side travel to Gigg Lane on Saturday afternoon in their final match of 2017, and after a determined 2-1 win over the Latics; they are hoping to get another positive result before the New Year.

The German, who played in Town’s Boxing Day win over Oldham, knows how important those three points could be for Fleetwood this season.

“It is nice going into a game after an important win,” said Schwabl.

“With the next match around the corner, we can hopefully create some momentum and start a little run ourselves.

“It was a good performance against Oldham, we scored two goals and after the last match, it was always nice to get back to winning ways.

“The win was the minimum, we will always stick together and fight.”

Town make the short trip to face Chris Lucketti’s Bury - who are currently sat bottom of Sky Bet League One - and the hosts on Saturday lost 3-0 against Rotherham United on Boxing Day.

Despite their loss, the 28-year-old midfielder knows that it is a game that the Cod Army can’t take easy.

He added: “We are looking forward to a match against a strong side in Bury.

“Bury are in a similar position to us and they will throw everything at us to get a result.

“It will be tough, but we all want to go there and win.”

“The fans were excellent in our last match, and they will want us to pick up all three points again.

“We heard them cheering when we scored our first goal the other day and that made us believe.

“I hope they all come to this match and make the same impact.”
