Fleetwood Town's Development Squad comfortably beat Morecambe 4-1 on Wednesday afternoon at Poolfoot Farm.

Ashley Nadesan scored twice, with Dan Mooney and Michael Donohue also grabbing a goal each as Paul Murray's side recorded a soild win at Town's training complex.

Morecambe hit back with a goal in the second half through Kyle Hawley, but Town rallied and two second half goals from Nadesan and Donohue sealed the win.

It took only a matter of seconds for Nadesan to get the first goal of the game. The striker chased down the Shrimps keeper Niall Maher and won the ball back, before slotting the ball into the empty net.

A flowing move midway through the first half saw Victor Nirennold’s cross initially met by Alex Reid, whose header was saved by Maher. Reid then laid the ball off for the onrushing Mooney who smashed the ball into the top corner. A great finish. Town led by two goals to nil at the break.

Both sides cancelled each other out in the opening exchanges of the second period before Hawley got his goal. He chased down a loose pass from the Town defence and rounded Chris Neal and passed the ball into the empty net.

Nadesan had a couple more chances, and forced Maher into a smart save when put through one-on-one. He found himself in a similar situation once more and his effort was palmed into the path of Donohue who headed home from close range.

The former Horley Town striker got the reward he deserved with his second of the afternoon. His initial effort from Nirennold's cross was saved, before he bundled the ball home. A comfortable win in the end for Paul Murray's side.

Fleetwood: Neal, Sheron, Baines, Higham, Nirennold, Sowerby, Biggins, Mooney, Reid, Nadesan, Donohue. Subs: Urwin, Garner, Trialist.
