Fresh from making his EFL debut on Saturday against AFC Wimbledon, striker Ashley Nadesan has hailed the day as an unreal experience.

The 22-year-old was brought on by head coach Uwe Rosler for the final few minutes, replacing fellow attacker Jordy Hiwula.

After being on the bench on two previous occasions including once last season, Nadesan says he was delighted to get minutes on the pitch.

“It was an amazing weekend for me,” said Nadesan.

“I didn’t expect it at all – I was buzzing to be on the bench and then to get the last five minutes was the most unreal experience of my career.

“Coming off the bench was only the start for me and I know the real work only begins now. I was just excited to get on the pitch!”

After joining the club from non-league side Horley Town last summer, Nadesan has scored a hatful of goals for Paul Murray’s Development Squad.

“The Development Squad is there to improve me as a player, and for me in my second season as a Development Squad player it has been unreal,” added Nadesan.

“I have scored goals and got assists too and now to get a sniff in the first team is amazing.

“The other strikers [in the squad] make you a better player, linking up with them and having shooting drills in training is amazing. We all share feedback on everything we do.

“The support has been unreal and the fans were unreal when I came on. The messages I have received have been endless, which is a good sign.”
