Fleetwood Town are delighted to announce that young attacker Dan Mooney has been called up to the Wales under 19 squad.
Mooney has been named in the 20-man squad for Wales’ for their two matches against Iceland on 2nd and 4th September in Rhyl.
The 18-year-old was rewarded in the summer for his impressive performances in the club’s under 18’s last season, with his first professional contract and has continued to impress whilst on loan at Bamber Bridge in the Evo-Stik North Division.
Mooney will link up with Paul Bodin’s squad for the matches on Wednesday 30th August.
Paul Murray, added: “This is brilliant opportunity for Dan to show his qualities at international level. We have monitored his progress whilst on loan at Bamber Bridge which has been very successful, and I’m sure the Wales coaching staff have seen what we have seen.
“This call-up adds to the club’s progression at international level, following Billy Crellin’s recognition by being named in the England under 18’s squad last week. We wish them both well and hope they grasp the opportunity with both hands, of which we are sure they will.”
