Midfielder looking ahead to international break...

Jimmy Ryan says there is no reason why the club cannot get back towards the top of the table, ahead of this week’s international break.

Fleetwood’s away trip to Bristol Rovers has been rearranged for Tuesday 1st November allowing Ryan and his teammates a rare weekend off in Sky Bet League One.

But the midfielder is keen to build on a positive start to the season.

“As players you want to be at the top end of the table,” said Ryan.

“From the first day of pre-season we said we wanted to have a good season no matter what went on last season. Every footballer wants to be in the top half of the table and challenging for the play-offs and promotion and that’s still our aim this season.

“We started off well and got near the top half of the table, and there’s no reason why we can’t get back there.”

Uwe Rosler’s side are without a win in five Sky Bet League One fixtures, but Ryan thinks that the Cod Army will soon get back to winning ways.

“I thought we were unlucky in the Bradford game especially,” said the former Chesterfield man.

“I thought we played well in the game and passed the ball well all night and had good chances to put the game away.

“It was disappointing for us because we could have taken the win.”

“The break can depend on your mental frame of mind, it just depends if club’s sometimes need that break and have a shutdown period then go again.

“Time will tell if it will be good or bad, but it gives us players’ time to relax our muscles over the weekend and we go again hard on Monday for the weekend.”
