Head Coach quotes from pre-match press conference

Head Coach Uwe Rosler sat down with the media on Monday afternoon to preview Tuesday night’s Emirates FA Cup First Round replay with Southport.

Below are a full transcript from the Gaffer’s interview.

Q:Here we go again, another game, but I’m guessing you’re pleased at the moment with how your players are performing as the performances seem pretty good?

that you need to have that knowhow in that league and we’re working to get that.home! It’s always good to know, it gives a little bit of calmness about the place when you see how the players are performing and what the players are putting in. The attitude of those two games and the appetite to win games and at the moment, we said it on Saturday we’re always in a promising position throughout the game, leading for most of the game but we don’t get it over the line. That is a situationI’m not happy with the results, especially away fromUR:

How much do you have to look beyond the result at the performance?Q:

Yes I think wins create confidence and I think sometimes we had it this year where we starting off the games. At the start of the season we threw also a few points away where we were leading and then we created that confidence by winning some games in a more simple way. We weren’t always at our best but it created confidence and I think it’s important that you have that balance but the players are doing a lot of good things and they know they’re doing the good things. This is why we were so gutted after last Saturday knowing that we played a very good game, knowing that the referee gave a clear handball for their second goal. It was a clear handball and sometimes the margins are against you and it’s hard to swallow.UR:

?Was a draw fair in the first cup gameQ:

got exactly what we expected. They were hanging in and again for me its 50-50 (the tie). It’s up to us., but there was not much play. We had more of the ball but both teams didn’t really create anything. In the second half, especially when they game got longer on, we took over and we had three clear cut chances which in my opinion, justifies saying we should have won the game. Also I said it afterwards in the interview, I gave credit to Southport, and they made it difficult. Weto get a big payday. Both teams addressed the game very ambitiousand hopingCredit to Southport, they made it difficult. The first half was a typical cup tie, FA Cup tie. Two teams in a similar position, both wanting to get into the next roundUR:

?of winningYou must be confident at homeQ:

it against Southport or is it against Chesterfield, I can’t predict the outcome so this is sometimes in foreign countries when you be Barcelona you’re going to Albacete you’re winning 5-0 so you can sit back and enjoy. I think we need to work extremely hard to get the win on Tuesday and all the lads know that because they know how good we can be but they also know how difficult it is to beat Southport in an FA Cup tie.isyou never know what you get. You ask me before a game,I’m as confident as you can be. In our leagueUR:

Do you like replays?Q:

UR:Yes, it’s fantastic. I don’t mind the extra game because it’s the FA Cup. It’s a great chance for us and we have to see it as a chance. We will fight for it and we should have won it but never mind, Southport took us right to the wire and now we have a chance in the replay to get it over the line and like I said, all due respect to Southport, we have to focus on ourselves and its only up to us to get it over the line, its depending on how good we play.

Can a cup run help the league?Q:

The cup run is more for our pride, to put Fleetwood on the football map even more so, also for financial reasons. I see any cup competition as not related to the league.UR:

Can we expect many changes to the team?Q:

, I think when you saw the team we put out at Southport that basically answers your question.noNot reallyUR:

in good form, what challenges will they pose?areSouthportQ:

ability to create like we did in the last part of the game and obviously learning our lessons from the weekend to finish the games off, especially when you have the amount of chances that we have.footballinghard for as long as they can, as much as they have in the tank and we have to make sure we match their ambitions on the pitch. We have to be sure that we’re using ourThe same challenge as the first game. They’re energetic, they have the appetite to cause an upset, they work veryUR:

How have the players reacted?Q:

good to forget and move on and our team has that ability.it’snot so good but in this case it’s very good because I think we can’t be beating ourselves up too much after Saturday. Sometimesit’s! SometimesquickLike a lot of young people they forgetUR:
