Left back gives his reaction after Emirates FA Cup win over Southport

Amari’i Bell says he is ‘over the moon’ after scoring his first goal for the club.

Bell scored Fleetwood’s fourth and final goal against Southport in the Emirates FA Cup First Round replay on Tuesday night as Uwe Rosler’s side progressed to face Shrewsbury Town.

The National League side put in a spirited display to take the match to extra-time, before three goals in ten minutes saw Town through to the next round.

“It’s always nice to get your first goal for the club,” said Bell.

“I like to run at players, try and get crosses in and try and score goals, add that to my game as well so yeah hopefully in the next few games I can keep that going and hopefully get a few more.”

“I’m over the moon so hopefully I can continue to prove that I am a threat and can score more goals.”

Despite scoring four goals, left-back Bell insists that there is still room for improvement and that they can keep doing well in all competitions.

“I thought we played well tonight, but we should have eliminated their goal.

“I think we sat back and should’ve carried on playing the way we did.

“We showed that we can stay mentally strong, we can keep going through and score goals. I think we could’ve got a few more but on another day I guess they’ll go in.

“We got the win today and hopefully we can build on that in Saturday’s game against Chesterfield.”
