Former Southend United man has penned a three year deal

Fleetwood Town have today further boosted their defensive options with the signing of 24 year old centre half Cian Bolger on a three year contract.

Bolger has spent the past two seasons with Southend United, and started for the Shrimpers against the Cod Army on the opening day of last season at Highbury.

He was loaned to Bury for the final three months of the campaign, and appeared nine times for the Shakers during a successful spell.

A product of the Leicester City youth system, Bolger was loaned to Bristol Rovers on three occasions between 2011 and 2013 and became a key player at the Memorial Stadium.

In January 2013, Bolton Wanderers made a move for his services, and he captained the Trotters’ development squad but failed to make any first team appearances.

He later joined Phil Brown’s Southend side in 2014, and scored the decisive penalty in their Play-Off final penalty shootout victory over Wycombe Wanderers at Wembley last season.
