Town were beaten in the West Midlands this afternoon

Steven Pressley admitted his side were second best in many areas of the pitch as they fell to defeat against Walsall this afternoon.

Tom Bradshaw opened the scoring early on for the Saddlers, before goals from Paul Downing and Romaine Sawyers ensured the three points.

Substitute Devante Cole did pull a goal back for Town with six minutes remaining, as his curled effort from distance found the bottom corner.

Pressley said: “I was hugely disappointed with not only the result but the performance too. It was a poor display and we didn’t manage the first part of the game properly.

“We were second best in many areas of the pitch and we have to do much better than that. We’ve missed another chance to put our position in this league to bed.

“It’s not a nice feeling especially with what we served up today. We’re a much better team than that but just have to show it.

“It’s always easy to play when you're 3-0 down but you have to show the mentality and the courage when the game is in the balance.

“There were certain aspects of the play where we were really disappointing. There’s no excuses and we have to put that to the side.

“We had to win our personal battles and we didn’t do that. There’s always areas of improvement from myself and how I set up in a certain game and I’ll analyse that.”
