Attacking midfielder ended the campaign as top goalscorer

Bobby Grant thanked the Cod Army supporters for helping to get the team over the line against Crewe Alexandra this afternoon.

The attacking midfielder netted the game’s first goal with a rocket which flew past Ben Garratt in the Railwaymen’s net.

Devante Cole then scored his second goal in as many games for the Club as he converted from close range to increase the cushion.

But Grant paid tribute to the supporters for the atmosphere created inside the stadium, as well as the support given to him throughout the campaign.

He said: “It’s been a long season with ups and downs for myself personally. I think the celebrations summed it up as we’ve stuck together as a team and as staff.

“With the group of players we’ve got we should have definitely been up the table this year. There’s no question about that but that’s football.

“When you do come unstuck and lose games you should be winning, it’s very hard to gain momentum but as a club we need to draw a line under this season.

“The chairman deserves massive credit for what he’s done for the Club and the facilities he’s given us. That one was for him.

“For my goal I had a lot of time and just concentrated on connecting with it well. Lucky for me it’s flew in and we got off to a good start.

“I love this Club. I’d like to thank the fans because they’ve been absolutely superb with me this season. It gives you a buzz when you hear them chant your name.

“I’ll be back here next year and I’ve said to the chairman as long as you want me I’m more than happy to stay. I’ll be disappointed if I don’t beat my tally next year.”
