Experienced shot stopper has spent the last four years at Port Vale

Goalkeeper Chris Neal has today become Town’s fifth signing of the summer as he penned a two year deal with the Cod Army after leaving Port Vale.

An experienced shot stopper, Neal has spent the past four seasons at Vale Park, and has made over a 120 appearances for the Valiants.

Neal signed professional terms with Preston North End during the 2004/05 season, and spent time away from Deepdale at Tamworth, Shrewsbury and Morecambe.

He put pen to paper on a professional deal with Shrewsbury in 2009, and played a key part in their promotion to League One during the 2011/12 campaign.

After signing for Vale in 2012, Neal was an ever present as they secured promotion to the third tier that season, and was named the players’ player of the year.

He joined Doncaster Rovers and Bury on loan deals last season as he lost his place in the Vale side, and made 10 appearances for the Shakers.
