The school are hosting their diversity week and invited the Flyers along

Fleetwood Town Flyers Walking Football Club were invited to Manor Beach Primary School this afternoon to help the children with their football skills.

The school are hosting their diversity week so the Flyers were in attendance to talk to the children about age in sport and the fact it is available to anyone.

Chairman of the Flyers, Kevin Clarkson said: “We were approached by the school to assist with their diversity week, so were asked to particularly focus on age.

“Age is not a barrier to taking part in sport so we were delighted to do it in association with Fleetwood Town Football Club and its Community Trust.

“It was great to see the school children today and we enjoyed working with them. It was interesting to see what they thought and great to see smiles on their faces.”

The Flyers were runners up in a 13 team competition in Manchester on Sunday afternoon, and were beaten on penalties but Clarkson added there is plenty to be positive about.

“Things are going well for the Flyers at the moment and the membership is growing all the time. We’ve got a great relationship with the Club and at Poolfoot Farm where we’re based.

“The facilities down there are fantastic and it’s brilliant for us. We cater for all levels from just coming along for enjoyment to end up playing in some really serious tournaments.

“To see these guys playing with smiles on their faces is fantastic. They all enjoy playing and maintaining their fitness levels, whilst developing friendships too.”
