Striker ended the season on a high with two goals in two games

Devante Cole is hoping to kick on in a Fleetwood shirt next season after ending the 2015/16 campaign on a high with two goals in as many games.

Cole came on as a substitute last Monday at Walsall and reduced the deficit with curled strike from distance which found the bottom corner.

He was a threat for Town against the Alex on Sunday, and scored from close range as he converted David Ball’s cross in the box.

After the game, he said: “It’s felt really good to score goals in the past two games. Every striker wants to score goals and I’m no different really.

“It’s been frustrating for me here so far because I haven’t played as much as I’d liked, but I think I’ve shown if I get game time then I score goals.

“You’re always going to miss chances as a striker but if you keep on going in there you’ll score eventually. If you’re scared then it’s never going to happen.

“I’ve waited for my chance to get into this team and I’ve taken it. Hopefully next year I can just kick on and score more goals for the team.

“The boys were all massively relieved after the game. I went up last year with MK Dons so I know the feeling so it would have been horrible to go down.

“For me though I didn’t really feel any pressure leading up to the game. I don’t know what the other lads were like but I just took it in my stride.”
