Welshman wins the award for the second successive season

Goalkeeper Chris Maxwell has won the Fleetwood Town Community Trust’s player of the year award in conjunction with the PFA.

The Welsh shot stopper wins the award for the second successive year after his outstanding work in the local community throughout the 2015/16 campaign.

His work in the community was recently recognised by the Football League, who awarded him the unsung hero award for the month of April.

Director of Community Matt Hilton said: “Chris’s work has been outstanding once again this year. It’s the second year he’s been voted the community player of the year.

“He has always gone above and beyond and has been involved in numerous different activities throughout the course of the 2015/16 season.

“He has been the face of the Trust this year and never once declined to help us out. He has always been very proactive with us and happy to assist.”
