Stephen is raising money for Alan Morley and family

Fleetwood Town fan Stephen Cheetham will be running the 2016 London Marathon on Sunday 24th April to raise money for fellow Cod Army supporter and season ticket holder Alan Morley.

Alan has recently been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) which is a progressive disease which attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord.

His illness is terminal and means messages gradually stop reaching the muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting.

Born in Fleetwood, Alan is a self employed joiner and is married to Helen and has three children, and has followed the Club for a number of years.

Stephen has set a target of raising a £1,000 for Alan, which he hopes will provide a financial cushion for his family during this difficult period.

He said: “Alan is a good friend of mine and has been diagnosed with MND which is a devastating disease which affects the muscles in the brain.

“My idea is to run the London marathon to raise funds for him and his family, which should provide a financial support for Alan and his family.

“Alan has been a Fleetwood Town season ticket holder for years, so it would be fantastic if we could can get the support of everyone at the Club.

“The London marathon is the biggest in the world and it has always been a lifetime ambition of mine to run it.

“I’ve done a lot of different type of sporting events but this is certainly the big one. Raising funds for Alan and his family means a lot to me."
