Pair have impressed for Nathan Rooney's youth team this term

Youth team players Nathan Sheron and Mamadou Djabi have both been awarded professional contracts by the Club.

The pair have impressed immensely for Nathan Rooney’s side during the 2015/16 campaign, and have also been involved with Barry Nicholson’s development squad.

Sheron has been a mainstay in the young Cod Army’s impressive year to-date, and has caught the eye with a number of commanding displays at centre half.

Djabi is the Club’s leading goalscorer this season, having notched over 30 goals before recently picking up a nasty knee injury which will keep him out for 12 months.

Speaking to the Club’s website after signing his deal, Sheron said: “I’m made up to get myself a deal. I’ve put a lot of hard work into it over the past year.

“I’ve gradually got better and better this season, and all of the lads have been improving as a team which has been excellent.

“I can’t wait to get involved with Baz’s group now as the lads have all been good to me. It’s a better standard too which I’m looking forward to.”

Manager Rooney added: “Sometimes when you walk into a job you can highlight who your best players are, and Nathan and Mamadou were in that cluster.

“Since the Christmas period Nathan has been with the 21’s but has also been playing twice a week for me as well. He’s a great player who will do well.

“It’s bad luck and bad timing for Mamadou with regards to his injury, however he’s done all his work prior to that so we had to reward him.

“You don’t just allow a striker to leave the building when they score over 30 goals in a season, so we’ve rewarded his attitude to the programme too.”
