The Cod Army travel to Staffordshire this weekend

Steven Pressley believes momentum will be key for his side as they make the trip to Staffordshire to take on Burton Albion on Saturday.

The Cod Army are unbeaten in three games having beaten Coventry City and Gillingham, whilst drawing with Sheffield United last weekend.

And Pressley is wary of the threat league leaders Albion pose this weekend, and has warned his players to treat them with respect.

He said: “The good thing is that we go to Burton on Saturday in confident mood. We have a real belief about the group and haven’t lost many games over a number of months now.

“We’ve started to gain a little bit of momentum which is really important at this time of the season. The one thing is that we must give great respect to Burton.

“They are the one side in this division who are seriously punching above their weight. Jimmy Floyd did a terrific job and now Nigel has taken over.

“And to take over at a club like I say who are punching above their weight is a difficult job to take on, but he seems to have managed that continuity.

“He’s maintained their lead at the top of the table and has done a great job in difficult circumstances. Their players deserve enormous credit.

“They’re a really hard working side and have always been well organised. That’s the key to their success. Very few teams compare to them in the league in terms of desire to win games.

“As a football club we have to continually aspire to be like that. It’s down to astute and clever recruitment and generating the right team spirit.”

“We’ll work very hard on doing that, but short term the goal is merely on surviving and getting the opportunity to build on that.”
