The Cod Army have won their last two league fixtures

Goalkeeper Chris Maxwell believes Town’s recent good form is down to the hard work the players and staff have all put in.

The Cod Army were victorious at Coventry City last weekend and picked up there points at home to Gillingham on Tuesday evening.

And with three wins from their last four fixtures, the Sky Bet League One table now looks healthier as Fleetwood occupy 17th position.

They face a Sheffield United side this weekend who lost to Burton Albion in midweek, and will be hoping to return to winning ways on the Fylde Coast.

Maxwell said: “The lads are full of confidence and I’m sure all of the fans are full of confidence too. We’ve picked up two wins against two good clubs recently.

“It was important for us as a group of players to move forward after the Gillingham game, and the three points helped greatly.

“With the way we’re playing we’re hoping we can win again on Saturday in front of our home crowd. We need to stay well clear of that bottom four.

“Our improvement in form is down to the hard work the lads and the staff have put in. We’ve earned the two wins which have been brilliant.

“Apart from the two goals we’ve conceded which we know we can do better on, I don’t feel we’ve been challenged too much in the last couple of games.

“We’ve been very organised and have a centre half pairing who are quite settled now. Victor has also done very well so too Amari’i.

“We’ve already beaten Sheffield United on penalties at home this season so have that under our belt. We’ve obviously got a slightly different team now but the thoughts will still be there.

“They were beaten in midweek so will be right up for it on Saturday. It’s important we keep to our game plan and keep working hard for each other.”
